Simone:  Do you have any general comments about school in general

Mr. Jones: Great school compared to schools I’ve been at, eleven hundred to seventeen hundred students. It’s a lot more manageable. Kids here seem good, teachers are great. The teachers get along which does not happen in most schools. All the teachers have the same goal which is helping you guys which is a change. Beautiful area, there’s a lot of new books coming in, new computers technology, and looking forward to a new year.

Simone: Do you like working as principal for Grandfather Academy?

Mr. Jones: Yes, I said the kids here are good. You guys have really shown a lot of things that most kids doesn’t have the chance to show in normal schools. I just really like it. I like the area. I live forty miles away. It’s a great place. Not that the other schools were bad.

Simone: Do you enjoy doing the Circle of Courage?

Mr. Jones: Yes, that was one of the main things when I first found out about the job I went to the school’s website and noticed the whole Circle of Courage thing, and I’ve got Native American and Cherokee in my background, so that whole thing kind of interested me. It needs to be done in most traditional schools. I think that it will help out a lot for all the behaviors going on.

Simone:  What is it like being a principal?

Mr. Jones: Actually, it can be a lot of fun! Getting to know the students and working with the faculty and staff is always cool!
